Picnics
We offer guests a riverside picnic on request. Here, nestled on the banks of the mighty Zambezi, guests are wined and dined al fresco with nothing but the African sky up above, the earth down below and wildlife all around.

Canoeing
Experience Africa at its best, by canoe. Guests are invited to paddle along the Zambezi river with a guide for a truly phenomenal and exhilarating water safari. Encounter crocodiles and hippopotamus, elephants, buck and birdlife while enjoying the tranquility of the bush by boat.

Fishing
A signature Mwambashi River Lodge experience is game fishing on the Zambezi. This unspoilt stretch of water has always attracted wildlife enthusiasts and travelled sport fishermen as it’s home to the legendary tiger fish. Here, man and fish meet under the African sky, an encounter that has many coming back year after year. While the lodge offers guests a choice between bait and fly fishing, guests are asked to bring a healthy dose of love for the unexpected because, while you’re expecting to catch bream, you might end up with a monster cat-fish or two.
Mwambashi River Lodge prides itself on being eco-friendly and tiger fishing is strictly catch-and-release to preserve this beautiful game fish and ensure that future generations can enjoy this wonderful wildlife experience for years to come. Please note that fishing equipment in camp is limited and fisherman are requested to bring their own fishing equipment.

Game Drives
A classic way to encounter Africa’s animals up close and personal, our daily game drives are conducted by highly experienced guides, making them both informative and unforgettable. Expect to see elephants, leopards, lions, buffalo, hippopotamus, kudu, zebra, waterbuck impala, hyena and if you’re lucky enough, wild dogs and a plethora of birdlife that would make any bird enthusiast’s wildest dreams.

Bird Walks
On a walking bird safari, Mwambashi’s expert guides will accompany you as you experience Africa on foot, exploring the myriad of flora and fauna while taking in the kaleidoscopic landscape and abundant bird and wildlife that surrounds you.

Sunset Boat Cruise (and Photo Boat)
Like the wildlife, the African sunset is something worth celebrating. Guests are invited to say goodbye to the sun aboard our boat on the beautiful Zambezi while enjoying a refreshing sundowner or two. From your aquatic vantage point, expect to see an abundance of wildlife and to make the moment even more amazing, the guides are highly skilled at getting the boat as close to the banks as possible, allowing for a breathtaking photographic opportunity unlike any other.
